Non-Exempt / Full Time
Pay Range begins at $24.00/hour
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent, plus Manager ServSafe certification and two years of food service experience. An understanding of and empathy for recovering persons is required. Initiative, creativity, and high energy level. The ability and willingness to teach clients. Reliability and efficiency. Knowledge of nutritional guidelines and safe food handling, a commitment to healthy nutrition
Physical Requirements: Light to heavy lifting required, as necessary, for stocking and cooking responsibilities.
Valid Driver’s license required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains standards of cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen and dining areas.
- Instruct clients in the elements of meal-planning, nutrition, portion control, food shopping, cooking and safe food handling.
- Work with clients to prepare and serve meals. Teach clients the proper and necessary elements of hygienic maintenance of food supplies, food preparation equipment, kitchen appliances and utensils.
- Assist clients in transferring knowledge of food service to the needs of a smaller group, e.g., individual meal-planning.
- Supervise clients during the preparation and serving of meals as well as kitchen clean-up.
- Participate in periodic staff meetings to discuss clients and their performance in the food service areas.
- Present educational groups related to nutrition and its role in recovery.
- Assist other staff members in educational groups related to food, nutrition, cooking, shopping, menu-planning, and portion control.
- Develop a menu that provides a variety of healthy and nutritious meals based on the nutritionist’s menu and current nutritional guidelines.
- Maintain accurate financial records; submit accurate and timely reports.
- Maintain cleanliness, neatness and organization of kitchen, dining room and food storage areas.
