Parent Educator - Torrington

An opportunity to provide in home parent education services to community families.  This position reports to the Director of Prevention and Family Services, with primary responsibility for conducting the PSS program.

Full-time / Non-Exempt

Pay Range begins at $24.00

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and in the community. Prior experience/credentialing in Triple P Program and Circle of Security preferred. Familiarity with data entry into Electronic Health Records preferred. 

Physical Requirements: 

Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk, using the phone, and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

Valid Driver’s license is required.

Credentials: 

Training in Triple P, Circle of Security Parenting, and Wraparound services provided upon hire. BILINGUAL REQURED

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts family assessments for DCF, community, or self-referred clients to the PSS program.
  • Develops collaborative action plans with PSS parents/clients, and DCF Social Worker.
  • Offers parenting education and support services to individual families in home.
  • Provides case management services including arranging for transportation, basic needs support, and financial assistance as needed.
  • Meets with Supervisor on a bi-weekly basis to discuss programmatic issues/problems.
  • Meets with Director of Prevention and Family Services on a bi-weekly basis with PSS team to review program progress and concerns.
  • Meets with DCF program gatekeeper & staff on monthly basis to review clients’ progress.
  • Facilitates Circle of Security groups as directed.
  • Data entry and documentation of program interventions, screening tools, and progress in agency Electronic Health Record.
